My Tree!!

Yesterday our super helpful neighbor, Brother Toyn, brought us a truck load of compost for the backyard. As he was backing the truck up in the backyard so we could shovel the compost out, he backed over one of the trees we planted two years ago. It bent clear over to the ground! The good news is that it rebounded to almost up-right again. There is quite a scrape on the bark but we think that if we stake it the tree will recover since it's still quite a sapling- only about 2 inches thick. He felt so bad about running over the tree. He helped us fix a few problems with our sprinklers while he was here.
But, the most exciting part about yesterday is that the electricians came! We have working lights and powered outlets in the basement now! No more using an extension cord plugged into the only working outlet. Little John slept in his real crib (not the port-a-crib) in his own room last night. He was so excited by all the changes he took forever to get to sleep. He had a three hour nap in his new bedroom today so I think he's settled in.

Choo-choo!

The cabinet installers were here today to put in the fabulous shelves around the fireplace. They were using some air compressor powered tools and the baby was scared by the noise. Carolyn and John took him downstairs to play in their bedroom now that they have the rug all set up and he can play on the floor. I had found the train box in the garage. John, Sarah, and Carolyn all had a great time trying to build a working train track while Little John kept taking it apart to chew on the pieces. It was really fun!

Peach Days Contest

Every year Brigham City dose a beautiful baby photo contest for Peach Days. We took pictures of Little John to enter into the contest. He was so cute in all of them that we couldn't decide which one to enter so we asked a bunch of random people which one they liked better and that's the one we entered. Everyone we asked was totally "oohhing" and "aahhing" because he was just so cute! Later we learned that we were supposed to enter a "head shot" photo of him smiling and they would have the winner take another picture with the peaches. Oh well. We had a lot of fun taking the pictures and showing them around.

Farragut Lake and Disc Golf

We took some time off from the lake to play on the 18-hole Wreckreator disc golf course. It was fun. We played with mini disks so it took a lot more throws and a longer time to go through the course.

Farragut Fort

We spent the day hiking on the trails and exploring the Farragut Fort Museum. Sarah was in love with her "Lurker", the manikin that was located in different places through the museum. During World War II, it was the "Farragut Naval Training Station", a major training base of the U.S. Navy.

We spent most of the day down at the lake. It was cool but beautiful. The water was cold but that didn't stop Codie from swimming any way.

Farragut State Park, Idaho

It's 2:30 in the afternoon. We have been in Montana for some time now. We have been following I-15. There was an odd moment when the mountains just left. Everything was rather smooth and the mountains on either side were rather far away. The mountains are closer now. On our right there are massive clouds. We have made only a few stops. One was in Fort Hall to see the Indian Museum. It was pretty cool. They had some beautiful bead work.



The other place we stopped was Blackfoot, Idaho to see the potato museum. We have pictures of us from there when we stopped and visited when we were little. We were about a 1/3 of our current and and Ben was about 1/4 of how tall he is now.




We got to Butte, Montana. We made camp at a KOA. We went to the Wal-mart super center. It was the biggest Wal-mart we had ever seen. We got a new hitch for the Explorer because the old hitch went straight out so that on dips and such the back of the trailer would scrape the ground pretty bad. :( The new one drops down a few inches so it doesn't scrape any more unless there is a really big dip. We walked around on the trail at camp. There is a lot of marsh land with ducks.

Saturday Morning. We started putting down the trailer so we could get going. Sarah was cranking up the four legs. She got two of them up and then had to stopped to help move the bikes. Ben took the handle and went to finish raising the legs. He only raised one of the two that were left. the legs are on the corners to steady the trailer. the one he missed was on the back. We got every thing finished and Mom backed the SUV up to the hitch. The front of the trailer had slipped down and we were having a hard time lifting it up to put it onto the ball of the car. Usually Ben can lift the trailer by himself, but this morning, we were all trying, but not making any headway. We tried emptying the trailer and adding weigh to the back to make the front easier to lift. Still no luck. Sarah suggested that we put the trailer hitch wheel on some rocks and then raise it up. After a few tries, it finally worked. I have never had so much trouble with the trailer before. It was really weird. We were finally ready to go and we walked around camp one more time to make sure we had not forgotten anything. While we were walking around, Ben noticed that the back leg was still down on the trailer. He pointed out that it would have probably been easier to lift the trailer if this leg was up and not stuck against the ground. Ben got the leg lifted, but it was so hard, we practically had to unhook the trailer to lower it down so we could get the leg up again. We are on the road again. We got to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. We got to our campsite at last. There were so many trees. It is so green and beautiful. We like our camping spot, but it is a long, long, long way to the bathrooms. We met with David and his family at Farragut State Park. What a beautiful place. It was nice and cool. I don't think it ever got above 85 degrees.

David and Sue have a cute, fat little dog.(That's Sarah's definition.) It is a beagle mixed with a fox hound. The boys think that camping is for sitting in the trailer and playing game boys. David said that if you have one boy, you have one boy. If you have two boys, you have 1/2 a boy, and if you have three or more boys you have nothing. This is true, because the boys were so involved in playing their games that they didn't know that the rest of the world existed. David and Sue did all the cooking. I'm not sure it was really a vacation for them. We took a driving tour of Farragut park. It is so beautiful. We went and took a look at the lake and went to check out the boat docks to see if there was a place to launch David's canoe. We stopped at several view points. At one point, there were some wonderful climbing trees next to a camp cabin. The kids had fun climbing in the trees and running around. Codie even went out to sit on a limb with Sarah.
